"Supernumerary Governess"
1. My Accomplishments
Last Tuesday, I submitted my weekly journal
#02 and I met my critique teacher. After that, I observed her class. For last
Wednesday and Thursday, I was the substitute teacher for the whole class of my
critique teacher because she got sick. And I checked the papers of the four sections
and it was so hard because they have a large number in one class, so I can’t
check easily. And for last Friday, I observed the class of my critique teacher, also
I submitted my minute notebook.
2. My Significant Experiences
I enjoyed teaching even it was a surprised because
they just told me on time that I will handle the class. The teacher that was
assigned to give me the instructions was not prepared because she didn’t even
give me the complete instructions. Because she just gave me the activity paper
of the students so asked the students if they were done with their lesson, but
then they did not finish so I discussed the continuation of their lesson without
preparation because my CT did not inform me about that.
I experienced to handle the diverse
students and it was so challenging because I need to discipline them before I start
my lesson. When the students were so noisy I tried to keep quiet but nothing
happened I became worse. In when I got mad nothing happened again so o don’t know
what kind of approach they need. When I observed my critique teacher that was
she did also, but the students didn’t change. They were so noisy as usual when I
was the substitute in their classes.
3. My Insights
It was a blessing and a challenge to me because
I handled the four sections, and it was so challenging because I really
observed the diverse students. Anyway, it was my advantage to be with the
diverse students so that I know what to do the next time of my teaching. I’m thankful
because I received their positive comment to me so I will maintain and improve
that (good volume of voice). I need to accept the differences of the students because
I knew and I observed how they acted/behaved in the classroom. I hope I can discipline
them because they can’t really behave when I observed them. I need to be strong
to face the large number of the students. Especially in checking their papers
it’s really hard it takes more time to check because they are more than 50 in
one classroom. “God is my helper in everything I do.”
4. Problems
I can’t have my teaching on Tuesday and
Wednesday because my critique teacher said she needs to process all their
activities before I teach. And she was absent for two days so my teaching
during substitution is not counted as my teaching execution.
5. Solutions
I will try to ask my CT if she can give me
the evaluation as my one lesson plan so that I will finish my lesson that is
required because I am coping of time. And there will be interruptions for the
classes so the days given are not enough for the 30 lesson plans for teaching
in the public school. I hope we can extend the date in finishing our lesson
plans.
6. Goals for Next Week
I will observe more the classes as the
teacher process all their activities that the students made. And while my CT is
processing the activities I will be prepared on the next lesson so that I can
teach after that. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
