Week #17

December 1-5, 2014

“Still Blessed”

1.   My Accomplishments

Monday and Tuesday, we don’t have a class because of “Handog ng SLU sa Baguio and Family Day and Salo-salo.” Wednesday, I taught the poem entitled “The Sampaguita by Natividad Marquez.” Thursday, I taught paper folding in the four sections of my cooperating teacher as an appreciation of the poem The Sampaguita. Then Friday, I taught Infinitives as a Noun.

2.   My Significant Experiences

I enjoyed teaching paper folding because I observed that all the four sections of my cooperating teacher enjoyed making “Paper Folding-Tulips” even boys they were so interested to do the paper folding. For the first time of teaching grammar in my class, the month of November is the English month that’s why I taught more on product based. I really enjoyed teaching grammar because my students were participative even they were passive class. My cooperating teacher appreciated me because I taught the lesson in an organize way and the students understood the lesson.

3.   My Insights

I’m blessed with every situation because I learned a lot of things, bad or good I considered as a blessing to me because they are my motivation to be a successful person. I will continue the good things I did and for the weakness I will improve to help myself to be a good enough person.

4.   Problem

I did not expect that I will go back to public school to finish the two lessons that I did not finish because of some valid reasons. I really don’t like to go back to my cooperating teacher. Enough!!! I had a trauma because of her attitude that I can’t explain, I think that attitude is not suited to a professional teacher. She can’t even give respect to the rules even us, as a student teacher.

5.   Solution

I will ask favor to the principal not to give me the same cooperating teacher as I go back to public school.

There’s no impossible with honesty and respect.

6.   Goals for Next Week

I will have my rated lesson with my Supervising Instructor so I need to be healthy so that I will enter my class. And I will finish the required 10 lesson plans.

November 24-28, 2014

“Give Way”

1.   My Accomplishments

This week is my second week of facilitating English month activities like impromptu speaking, extemporaneous speaking and scrabble. I did also the IMs of my cooperating teacher. Monday, I taught the introduction of logo making and for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, I facilitated logo making during my classes. Then, Friday I made my lesson plan for the presentation of logos of the students. Finally, I did not have tardiness and absences so I can say that I did a good job.

2.  My Experiences

I had a very nice week, I entered my class with a smile even I’m nervous because I handled another section. I’m happy because they respected me and they participated well. Last Friday, I used darts (hitting the bull’s eye) for their game to relate on their plan on how to present their logos. After their game, I asked them if they have a plan in hitting the bull’s eye so I told them that in presenting their logos they have to set their goals or plans like what they did before hitting the bull’s eye. For that activity, I observe that they enjoyed and they presented well their logos in relation to library. Moreover, I’m contented with what I did because my cooperating teacher appreciated the way I facilitate the students but she has a comment “the other students were transferring seat and noisy.”

3.  My Insights

With my very nice week, I will continue that especially I will wear my smile to spread the good vibes in class, that even though I was nervous I did not show to my students. I really felt teaching is enjoyable because my students were participative and active. Also, I will continue motivating my students for them to participate well and learn something. I will show to them that they are talented by letting them do their activities in an interesting manner like allowing them to share their ideas and creating their own way to show and learn something in relation to the lessons.

4.  Problems

It’s been my sixteen weeks, I think I don’t have a serious problem but I was hurt with my classmate because of my schedule for the rated demo with my Supervising Instructor. In the past days, I was scheduled on Thursday (December 4) but we were move to Wednesday (December 10) because there is no available SI for Thursday that’s why they moved us to Wednesday. Last Friday, when I saw my schedule suddenly my name was on 8:40-9:40 and yet my final schedule was 1-2 PM. My classmate did that she put my name in 8:40 to 9:40 and she got 1-2 PM. How hurt! She even respected me or is she known if I have a class at 8:40-9:40? She did not even consult me about that; she doesn’t have a kind hearted. Sorry! I made a face that time because she did not even talk to me well.

5.  Solutions

I gave way to her even its too hurt so she needs to show me that she is interested because for me I’m concern because I did my best not to be late or absent with my sickness, I entered my classes just for me to graduate  without problem. I commit to God my schedule because I know He has a plan for me. God is good all the time. I will take that as a blessing.

6.  My Goals Next Week

I will teach three lessons to finish the 10 rated lesson plans. I will also help my cooperating teacher for her tasks, for her to finish because she will prepare for the questionnaires for their exams on the third week of December.

“No Lesson Plan”

1.   My Accomplishments

This week I didn't have lesson that’s why my classmates and I facilitated Grade 7 and 8 for their competition in tongue twister, spelling bee, essay writing and poetry writing. I also recorded quiz 2.2 of the students and Jonalyn and I continued making of IMs of our cooperating teacher. Last Wednesday, I took my psychological test. Moreover, Jonalyn and I photocopied 1700 copies letter for the SLU-LHS and we sorted with the given guidelines (per year and sections).

2.   My Experiences

A week without lesson plan because my cooperating teacher handled the students for their quiz 2.2 and practices for choral reading. “Facilitator of the week” Well, this week was worth it because my classmates and I facilitated competition every afternoon from Monday until Friday. Since we did not teach at least we did something that are helpful like facilitating, replication and sorting the letter for the parents, and recording of quiz 2.2 of the students.

Wiggle! Wiggle! Wiggle! I was so shock when we rode in a jeep last Tuesday, after our class. My heart bit so fast because the jeep wiggled that’s why until I went home my chest is so heavy and my buttocks blown-up on the iron of the chair.

3.   Insights

With that experience, I learned some important activities to explore more interesting activities like spelling bee, tongue twister, essay writing and poetry writing. If I will have my own school I will integrate those activities not only for the English month so that the learners will improve and experience varied activities that will enhance their skills.

For my shocking experience, I will take care in riding though I can’t avoid, but still be sure and be safe in riding to avoid accident.

My cooperating teacher asked us to photocopy the letter outside the school so that they will pay lesser. Then we said yes because we were ashamed to refuse. Then, we went out to photocopy shop, we leave the letter to photocopy 1700 copies and we went back quickly to school. After an hour, we went down to get the photocopies with our cooperating teacher. Then, because it’s not yet done we went back to get the rest.

5.   Solutions

We know that we are not allowed to go outside the campus that’s why we asked permission to our coordinator for us to go out for photocopy in just few minutes. Next time we will refuse their favor if it’s against with our policy for our security.

6.   Goals for Next Week

I will teach on Monday and Tuesday because I will handle choral reading and logo making.  Then, I will maintain my good attendance because it is important in my requirement. I will also join to facilitate some activities for the English month that will be due next week.

November 10-14, 2014

“Sad or Happy?”

1.    My Accomplishments

Monday, I checked journal writing. Tuesday, I checked again journal writing and poem and I recorded the scores of students. Thursday, I recorded the scores of all the sections of my cooperating teacher. Then Friday, I checked essay writing of my class. Moreover, I taught two lessons in 7 Matapat this week.

2.   My Significant Experience

Well, this week was the big week! Oh, I’m exhausted. I think mostly of my task because the days are approaching. Anyway, I love my days because I’m learned something with my students and I discovered something with myself for my teaching. Like what I did to my motivation, while I was going home last Thursday, I’m thinking what to do on Friday because I will have a rated demo, then I thought about Facebook so I prepared an activity entitled “Facebook-post-comment-like”. My lesson last Friday was the continuation of Essay Writing so I thought an activity that will give interest to the students that’s why I prepared my lesson plan and my IMs until 1:30 AM. I was so excited to teach that day because I was so early to school. But sadly my lesson was not rated because according to my cooperating teacher that’s the continuation of their lesson last Thursday. Though I became happy because even my lesson plan was not graded my cooperating teacher appreciated my IMs, she said every time I teach she likes my IMs because my IMs are creativeJ))))  and she said I’m improving with my teaching though I have an expression that I can’t avoid (so) and of course sometimes I commit error. Moreover, I was so grateful and happy because my students are participative with all activities and they enjoyed using my IMs to discover the learning activities.

3.   My Insights

Every situation has a purpose/reason. Well, I’m so happy with everything I do because I’m encountering hardship and appreciation. “Hardship can lead to success” so I will be inspired with it in order for me to be a successful person. I believed God will give me more blessings and strengths as I go on doing the good things and helping others.

4.   Problem/s

I really had an overtime to prepare my IMs and lesson plan for my lesson last Friday, but then my cooperating teacher said I will not make a lesson plan for that because that’s the continuation of my lesson last Thursday and yet I finished the parts of my lesson plan last Thursday. It’s just the continuation of their essay writing last Friday.

5.   Solution/s

Anyway, I took that as a positive so that I will not be hurt even though I slept at 1:30 AM and woke up at 4:00. I realized that even though my lesson plan is not counted, at least my students enjoyed the activity even my cooperating teacher she really appreciated my IMs (Facebook-post-comment-like) that is suited to the lesson.

6.    Goals for Next Week

Wow, time is so fast!

Well for next week, I will execute lesson plans to finish my requirements. I will do the things that my cooperating teacher will be giving to me. Then, I will not be late and absent so that I will not have a problem when it comes to completion of the requirements.

Week # 13

November 3-7, 2014

“Anxiety”

1.   My Accomplishments

Wednesday, I taught journal writing in 7 Matapat, I was assigned to give the announcement at the third and fourth year department, I wrote the names of the honor students of my critic teacher and I brought it to the assistant principal, I encoded the songs for the mass ceremony on Saturday and I delivered the calendar of activities to the English teachers in Grade 9 and fourth year. Thursday, I taught spelling bee in 7 Matapat and I delivered a letter to the assistant principal. Friday, I taught tongue twister in 7 Matapat and 7 Matatag. I cut and pasted the names of the students on the plastic envelop for their cards. I also cut flowers for the decoration of the stage for the mass and culminating activities on Saturday (November 8, 2014). Then, I help some of my classmates to decorate those flowers. Moreover, I help my critic teacher to get some flowers for the decoration of the stage.  And most of all I took a surprise exam at 5PM-6:45PM.

2.   My Experiences

Chill! Chill! Chill! I was so nervous before my first teaching in 7 Matapat then when I entered the class my nervous gone. On the second day of my teaching I was still nervous before I entered the class. On the third day, I was so nervous again I need to do “wiggle-wiggle-wiggle” because I handle a new class and of course I will deal again new faces and behaviors. In my first week of teaching, I was so uncomfortable because I met new diverse students, some were respectful and some were disrespectful. Though, I’m so grateful because my students were participative in every activity and they answered also the questions given to them as well as they shared their ideas and opinions.

May be this time everything is a surprise.  We submitted suddenly our requirements because some of our classmates said to us on time and also the exam in EDUC118A they said to us on time and they did not tell to everybody so the others didn’t know.

  

3.   My Insights

I’m so grateful to my challenging class because they are active and they really answer my questions and share their ideas.

I realized that I will not depend from the announcement and text message of the coordinators because actually I did not even hear from her an announcement about the requirements. Instead of preparing my papers without their words so that if they will say “Submit your requirements” I can easily submit. Next time, I will prepare everything for my requirements so that I will accomplish everything. Moreover, I learned that “I must prepare everything for my requirements without the information.”

4.   Problem/s

I’m hoping that I will complete the two lesson plans in Laboratory High School, which I did not finish in Public.

5.   Solution

I will accept if my critic teacher will give me a lesson every day, as long as I’m feeling well.

6.   Goals for Next Week

I will help my critic teacher to facilitate the scrabble in her classes and I will do the things that she will be giving to me. I will also ask some lessons for me to prepare my lesson plans.

October 27-30,2014

"New Blessing"

1. My Accomplishments

          Monday, we had an orientation with ma’am Soliba at the Function Hall of SLU- Laboratory High School. We shared our concerns like if we did not finish the 30 rated lesson plans in Public school. Tuesday, we fixed our quarters in the attic; we even made our decoration and clean our areas. Moreover, we were asked to facilitate the class in which they assigned to us because the teachers had their meeting at 11-12pm.  Wednesday, we had our meeting with the principal at the Function Hall of SLU- Laboratory High School; he oriented us about our rules and regulations and in teaching in the classroom. Thursday, I observed the last class of my critic teacher. After that, we had our conversation on what are we going to prepare for our lesson on Wednesday until Friday. In addition, I submitted the summary of my rated lesson plans and activities, final evaluation with my CT, and DTR September and October. 

2. My Experiences

          A new environment to face, I’m so happy to face another blessing and challenge. Last Monday, I was so nervous to know my cooperating teacher until last Wednesday because the principal was so busy with the PAASCU that’s why we just had our meeting last Wednesday. After that, we went to LEC for our meeting and for us to know our cooperating teacher. At that time, I was so speechless until I went home because of some unexplainable matters. I just said God has a plan for me so I need to be thankful and accept whatever I’m facing right now. Moreover, I observed the Grade 8 and Grade 7 classes then I saw their attitudes so I was so nervous to start my teaching. Anyway, I can do all things.

          How can I finish my two lesson plans that I did not finish in Public School?

5. Solutions

      I will try to ask my SI if what is her decision and I will respect whatever her decision is. 

6. My Goals Next Week

      I will prepare three lessons for my class. Especially, I will be positive enough to face my new environment and my new students.
